NEWS-The Police in Kabale have in its custody a 30 years old motor vehicle driver who knocked dead a 67 years old woman along kabale – Kisoro road.
The kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the suspect as Niwamanya Ivan, a resident of Burambira Murambo cell in Rubanda district who knocked dead Sekachuzi Joy a resident of Rwakaraba, Northern Division in Kabale Municipality.
Maate said that the driver left his home in Burambira on yesterday morning driving his motor vehicle reg no UAK 698X Toyota Hilux single Cabin heading to Mwanjari where he works from.
Maate revealed that along the way at Rwakaraba corner, Niwamanya met unidentified Fuso Truck that was coming from Kabale town using his (Kisoro -Kabale Lane) which compelled him to instant breaking.
He adds that since the road was wet due to rain, the motor vehicle slid and went to the opposite lane (Kabale -Kisoro lane) knocking Sekachuzi who was on her way to church together with her two grandchildren by the sideway.
Maate confirmed to our reporter that Sekachuzi died at Kabale Referral Hospital moments later at around mid day whereas the two children survived with injuries.
Police visited the scene, towed motorvehicle reg no UAK 698X to the traffic yard and postmortem was conducted.
The case of serious accident that turned into fatal was registered at Kabale Central Police Station under reference number TAR 62/2021.
