The first lady, also minister of Education and Sports Mama Janet Kataaha Museveni has commended the roles of Religious institutions play in the development of the Nation through ministering the flocks.

The first lady who was represented by the Ntungamo District woman MP Hon Bata Kamateneti, stressed that it is through the Church where the moral fabric of the community has been strengthened, and children have been nurtured in the values of honesty, hard work and respect for one another.

This was during the fundraising drive to raise UGX 800M for the roofing and completion of St John’s Kishariro Catholic parish in Nyamunuuka Town council Ntungamo district.

She noted that fundraising is not only about adding bricks and mortar to a building, but it is about raising up a sanctuary, where generations to come will gather to pray and fellowship with one another.

Minister Janet Kataaha Museveni revealed that investing in the house of God, is investing in the spiritual and moral foundation of the nation.

She noted that Kishariro Catholic Parish has been a beacon of hope, a centre of moral guidance, and a place where the people have gathered, not only to worship, but also to support one another in times of need.

The first lady contributed UGX 50 M towards the completion of the church and commended the Christians of Kishariro Parish for their unity, commitment and generosity.

In her words, the Ntungamo District woman MP Hon Bata Kamateneti hailed friends and well-wishers who have joined hands together to contribute generously towards the development of the St John’s Catholic Parish Kishariro as a sign of your love, faith and solidarity.

Hon Bata Kamateneti commended the president and first lady for entrusting her imploring all Ugandans to always support NRM and its leadership.

She appreciated Rev Fr Oscar Ahimbisibwe Omutsyatsya the priest St John’s Kishariro Catholic parish for working together with Christians in doing God’s work for the completion of the church and contributed UGX 5M.

The LCV Ntungamo District Samuel Mucunguzi Rwakigooba asked the Christians to work hard to eradicate poverty at household level instead of concentrating on politics yet politics cannot bring food on the table.

The Mbarara Archdiocese, Pastoral Coordinator Rev. Fr. Deusdedit Twesigy’omwe Ekikondanjojo  appealed to Christians to always concentrate on necessities rather than luxury materials as the only way to increase household income and build their churches without begging.

Rev Fr Twesigy’omwe noted many Christians have a tendency of spending on non ventures instead of promoting saving culture.

Rev Fr Twesigy’omwe flanked by many priests and catechists also warned them against spending money without plans in order to avoid ending in debts.

Rev Fr Oscar Ahimbisibwe Omutsyatsya the priest St John’s Kishariro Catholic parish hailed the first lady and Archbishop Mbarara Archdiocese His Grace Lambert Beinomugisha for honouring his invitation.

Rev Fr Omutsyatsya said that the church under construction was started in 2016 and it will host 1000 Christians after completion.

Other speakers were Namanya Viola Buroko, the NRM flag bearer for Ntungamo District woman MP, Tukahirwa Byenjuru Hunter the Kajara county NRM flag bearer, Hon Mwijukye Francis MP Buhweju, Lions Club Ntungamo and Gordon Kabanza who all contributed immensely towards the roofing and completion the St John’s Kishariro Catholic church.
