NEWS– It is yet another bad day for the people of Kitezi as another tragedy attacks their land.
This follows a fire that broken out at the Kiteezi landfill burning garbage leaving residents in fear.
According to Sharifah Buzeki the Kampala Capital City Authority KCCA Executive Director, the fire was due to methane gas accumulation underneath.
The Police are evacuating nearby residents to prevent harm, while rescue efforts are ongoing.
Elias Lukwago the Kampala Capital City Lord Mayor who was at the scene by press time noted that the Fire bridgade experts have expressed the need to use a murrum dosing method as opposed to water bowser to put it off but unfortunately the KCCA doesn’t have the requisite equipment like murrum conveyor belts.
“We’ve nevertheless agreed to use mechanical methods and hopefully we will be able to address the situation before a catastrophic volcano-like explosion happens”, he added.
