Diocese of Kinkizi Bishop Zoreka announces Priests transfers

KANUNGU- The Bishop of the Diocese of Kinkizi Rt Rev Dan Zoreka has announced a series of appointments and transfers for clergy members during a Diocesan Council meeting which was today held at Ngoto Island Tourism Hub Bwindi.

The Bishop announced the appointments and transfers focused on strategic decisions, including clergy assignments, a diocesan report, and updates on the ongoing University Project .

The following clergy appointments and transfers were announced and include Rev Can Enos Mukombe who retired as Archdeacon but remains the Bishops Commisary, Fathers’ Union Coordinator is Rev Can Johnson Turyagyenda while Solomon Mfitumukiza is the Assistant Missions and Evangelism Coordinator and Bwindi Hospital Chaplain and Human Resource Manager Rev  Elizabeth Akandinda Kamara.

In the new transfers Rev Can Patrick Habasa goes to Nyakinoni as Archdeacon, Rev. Boaz Turyatunga to serve as parish priest for Kangarame in addition to his role as Diocesan Planning and Development Officer and Rev Ezra transferred from Kangarame to Kishenyi COU while  Rev Can Peace assigned to Kinyangwe COU and Rev. Jack Kiconco goes Bukunga COU and Rev Esau Ensi-nehinduka posted to Ntungwa COU.

Orhers include Rev Alfred Nsenga who goes to Kajugangoma COU, Rev Isabella Ampumuza to Rukarara COU, Rev Naume Kanyesigye to St. Andrews Kihiihi Parish as Vicar and Rev Alex Aharimpisya assigned to Rwangoboka COU a newly established parish.

Additional Responsibilities and Recall of Retired Clergy include Rev Saasi Benjamin appointed as Diocesan Investment Officer, Rev Ntampanvu Senior to serve as parish priest for Kibimbiri COU Parish, Rev. Can. Lawrence Birohizo retained as Archdeacon for Nyamirama and Rev. Can. Levi Turinawe to serve as Archdeacon for All Saints Church  Kanungu while Rev Prisca Karuru to continue serving at Karangara Parish.

In the same statement Rev John Bashemeire was maintained at his current parish, Missioner Godfrey Byamukama was added responsibility for Nyamirengyere Parish and Rev Lowland Akampurira was appointed Chaplain for Nyakabungo Girls SS alongside his role as Diocesan Cashier

According to the Diocesan Communications and ICT Officer, Rev Bob Mbabazi Ntegyereize, the Clergy members are to collect their appointment letters on 7th January 2025 and official handovers are scheduled for 9th January 2025 while the transferred Clergy will relocate to their new parishes on 10th January 2025.

During the Diocesan Council received updates on the progress of the African University of Science and Management AUSM), an initiative by the Diocese in partnership with Bwindi Community Hospital, Uganda Nursing School – Bwindi, and Uganda Institute of Health Sciences – Bwindi which aims at advanced education and healthcare in the region.

Bishop Zoreka called on members of clergy and laity to embrace unity in ministry, emphasizing collaboration as a cornerstone for effective service in the Diocese and the Diocesan Council meeting highlighted the commitment of Kinkiizi Diocese to fostering spiritual growth, community development, and educational advancement.
