KAMPALA- Buganda Road Magistrates Court has issued a criminal summons against Anderson Herbert Burora, the former Deputy City Commissioner of Rubaga Division.
This comes after Burora failed to appear in court today to address hate speech charges, and none of his sureties showed up to explain his absence.
Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi issued the summons at the request of Senior State Attorney Ivan Kyazze.
Burora is now required to appear in court on April 2nd, 2025.
The charges against Burora stem from allegations of spreading malicious information about Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among on his social media handle between March and June 2024.
He faces six counts of hate speech and malicious communication, with the prosecution claiming his posts aimed to ridicule and degrade Among, portraying her as a torturer, murderer, kidnapper, and corrupt individual.
Today’s court appearance was intended to discuss the outcome of an out-of-court settlement between Burora and the Speaker of Parliament.
