A heartfelt farewell celebration took place yesterday at for Rev. Kwesiga Dennese as he transitions to the position of Bishop’s Chaplain in the South Ankole Diocese. After serving as a lay leader for over four years at Rwenanuura Church of Uganda (COU), Ruhaama Archdeaconary South Ankole Diocese, Rev. Kwesiga was officially ordained as a Reverend in a ceremony that brought together religious leaders, local politicians, and congregation members from across the diocese.
The gathering was marked by an atmosphere of joy and gratitude, as speakers reflected on Rev. Kwesiga’s significant contributions to the community. Rev. Mupenzi Johnson, the parish priest of Rwenanuura, delivered a powerful sermon emphasizing the values of humility and discipline. He described Rev. Kwesiga’s promotion as a divine calling, reminding the congregation that leadership transitions are guided by God and should not deter them from their faith.
“We must understand that these changes are part of God’s plan for growth and improvement,” he stated.
Speaking on behalf of Christians, Musinguzi Harbert, the head of laity at Rwenanuura COU, thanked Rev. Kwesiga for his unwavering dedication to the church over the years. Harbert highlighted his accomplishments, which included not only preaching the Word of God but also spearheading community initiatives such as tree planting and outreach programs.
His heartfelt words resonated with the congregation, showcasing the deep respect and affection they hold for their pastor.

Ven. Rev. Canon Yokaana Nyebikira, Archdeacon of St. James Rukanda in Ntungamo, also addressed the gathering, expressing his gratitude to God for Rev. Kwesiga’s accomplishments. He encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast in their faith during leadership changes.
“It is important not to abandon your church during transfers. Each leader is called to serve, and your strength lies in supporting them,” he advised.
The Very Rev. Canon Kamoomo, First Dean of South Ankole Diocese, echoed similar sentiments praising Rev. Kwesiga for his exemplary behavior and disciplined lifestyle, which he credited for his promotion remarking that his example inspires others, encouraging all to remain hopeful and diligent in their spiritual journeys.
In his closing remarks, Rev. Kwesiga expressed heartfelt thanks to the congregation for their love and support throughout his tenure. He urged them to extend the same warmth to his successor and assured them that he would carry the memories of Rwenanuura in his heart since they have given him a promotion.
