RUKUNGIRI– Hon. Andrew Ankunda Kikira an aspiring Member of Parliament vying for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag in Rukungiri Municipality has called people to embrace peace and foster unity ahead of elections.

Ankunda said that people should not be divided over politics because either before or after elections, Rukungiri Municipality will stay.

He made this revelation yesterday Sunday 18th May 2025 while handing over seven metallic doors and 1M shillings totaling over 8.5M shillings he pledged to Kitimba Primary School in Western division Rukungiri Municipality during the fundraising event held three weeks ago.

Speaking to Christians at Maaya Church of Uganda, Ankunda explained that he supports Kitimba Primary School to further education because, as the “son of the soil”, he is aware of issues that impact the community.

Ankunda Kikira emphasized the need for hard work and dedication as the key to progress and that everything is manageable when there is a shared vision.

As an aspiring Member of Parliament for Rukungiri Municipality, Ankunda stated that if people want to have decent services after elections, they must embrace unity and peaceful elections.

He however, urged Rukungiri Municipality residents to reject vote-buying and prioritize integrity as the elections draw closer.

Bemerire Hébert, the Kitimba Primary School head teacher confirmed that Hon. Andrew Ankunda Kikira has delivered on his commitment.

According to Bemerire, the school had difficulties because of open classes, but now that Andrew Kikira donated the doors, this won’t be an issue.

While receiving the donation, Wallen Nuwamanya, the chairperson PTA Kitimba Primary School also said that he is happy that within less than three weeks, Hon. Ankunda fulfilled his pledge.

Nuwamanya added that as parents and residents of Rukungiri Municipality, they also pledge their support to Ankunda since he eyes for Rukungiri Municipality Parliamentary seat in the forthcoming elections.
