Former aspiring Member of Parliament for Rukungiri Municipality, Ingrid Turinawe Kamateneti, has today donated scholastic materials to support learners in two primary schools within Rukungiri Municipality. The beneficiaries include Kahororo Primary School and Kiyaga Primary School, where the TIK Foundation supplied essential learning items aimed at reducing the burden on parents.

Speaking during the donations, Kamateneti said the items were meant to help families that do not have enough income to meet school requirements. Through her TIK Foundation, she presented learners with sanitary pads, mathematical sets, pens, books, rubbers, pencils, and other scholastic materials. She emphasized that the foundation does not discriminate, noting that although they started with two schools today, they will continue reaching other schools gradually.

Kamateneti further urged the government to increase support for children especially girls highlighting that many girls struggle to access sanitary pads. She explained that lack of sanitary support can affect attendance and overall learning, calling for stronger interventions to ensure every child remains in school and performs well.

Kamateneti revealed that the scholastic materials donated in the two schools are worth over 20 million Ugandan shillings.

At Kiyaga Primary School, the head teacher Kusiima Patience thanked the foundation for supporting learners, noting that some parents cannot afford learning needs for their children. She said the donation will ease learning challenges and benefit learners across the school, with over 600 students reportedly receiving support at Kahororo Primary School.

At Kahororo Primary School, the deputy head teacher Recheal Komujuni also appreciated the contribution, saying pupils particularly girlshave been missing classes or struggling due to lack of sanitary pads. Komujuni noted that the donation will help learners focus on their studies, with over 500 learners benefiting.

Learners including Alfred Nowamaani, Allan Mugabe, Alisha Turihamwe, and Namara Catherine expressed gratitude, saying they will make good use of the materials to study hard and improve their performance.
