NEWS– One person has been confirmed dead following a midnight crash between a long the Soriti-Mbale highway.
The accident involved a motor vehicle Toyota Hilux double cabin registration number UAJ 660D and an Isuzu bus registration number UAZ 415X belonging to Kakise Bus Company at Awoja Bridge along the Soroti-Mbale highway.
According to Damali Nachuha, the Regional Police Commander for East Kyoga the crash occurred after the driver of the double cabin pickup, Dr. Odongo Jacob who is now deceased lost control and collided head-on with the Kakise bus traveling in the opposite direction immediately after the bridge.
Dr. Odongo was killed instantly, and one person who was in the co-driver’s seat, was injured.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Soroti Mortuary while the injured person was rushed to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.
The wreckage of the vehicles has been towed to CPS Soroti, pending inspection by the IOV.
