Kahanyi Charles, popularly known as Legacy, has officially been nominated for a fourth term as Chairperson of LC 3 Kebisoni Sub County in Rukungiri District.

The nomination exercise began today at the NRM offices in Rukungiri municipality and has drawn a significant turnout, with over 250 candidates from various sub-counties seeking to participate in the forthcoming elections.

The nomination process is scheduled to run from today, August 5, until August 9, with voting set for August 14, 2025. Candidates were required to submit fully completed nomination forms along with photocopies of national identity cards from two seconders, gathered from July 28 to August 4.

This year, an additional verification step was implemented, requiring candidates to confirm their names against the yellow book.

This measure was introduced after concerns were raised about some individuals who picked nomination forms but were not listed in the yellow book, leading to the disqualification of over five candidates.

Kahanyi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the residents of Kebisoni Sub County for their unwavering support during his previous terms. He stated his commitment to continuing service delivery focused on the community’s needs, aiming to enhance the well-being of local residents.

His tenure has seen significant developments, including the transition from a town council to an independent sub-county and the establishment of Kebisoni Secondary Seed School—a project made possible through collaboration with local leaders and the Ugandan government.

In a show of support, Ngabirano Gard, chairperson of NRM Nyibingo parish and one of Kahanyi’s nominators, praised his vision for development and his efforts to reconcile the community. He highlighted Kahanyi’s successful advocacy for educational initiatives and described him as a hospitable leader.

As the nomination process continues, Kahanyi remains optimistic about the future of Kebisoni Sub County, urging unity among residents as they anticipate more developmental projects aimed at improving their community.
