President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has launched The Africa Nations Championship 2024 tournament to run from 2nd to 30th August 2025 jointly hosted by three East Member States that Include Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania dubbed PAMOJA.
President Museveni projects immense scores for the East region harnessing from the high influx of sports enthusiasts, tourists and match spectators who are expected in multitudes to watch the games and the tournament is equally viewed to strengthen East Africa regional integration efforts.
Uganda is in Group C with Niger, Guinea, Algeria and South Africa and its first CHAN2024 game will be against Algeria on the 4th of August at Mandela National Stadium – Namboole.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni notes that CHAN tournament has led to more sports infrastructural developments as 5 training grounds including the Outer Namboole pitch, Kyambogo University playgrounds, Muteesa II playground, Wankulukuku, Kampala International School and Kadiba playgrounds in Lubaga. Museveni promised more sports facilities ahead of the AFCON 2027.
The President said this yesterday as he addressed CHAN delegation and sports enthusiasts at Kololo independence grounds where he launched the tournament.
