KAMPALA- The Ministry of public service says a total of 2,500 workers are to be affected during the implementation process of rationalization of government agencies and ministries.
These are from 60 government agencies that will be rationalized into the 14 mother government Ministries.
The government embarked on a process of emerging some of its agencies so as to reduce government expenditure.
Now Allen Kakama,the commissioner management services from the ministry of public service says Ugx 229.6bn shillings will be used to cater for gratuity, pension and severance package to the staff who will be affected.
On this money, Ugx 196.2 bn shillings is for only one institution UNRA, which means the rest of the 59 agencies will share 33.4bn shillings.
This money will be part of the annual savings of Ugx 906.77bn shillings the government will release to pay a one off expenditure.
Kakama said this while presenting at the NRM manifesto week at the office of the president in Kampala.
