Residents of Rukungiri District have been urged to profitably utilize funds from the Parish Development Model (PDM) to improve their livelihoods.
Keith Ainebyoona, the Rukungiri District Commercial Officer, emphasized the importance of this initiative stressing that 75 PDM SACCOS have so far been formed across the district facilitating access to funds.
Ainebyoona told our reporter that Rukungiri District has so far received a total of 23.16 billion shillings, of which 19.45 billion shillings has already been disbursed to beneficiaries.
He added that the initiative has reached out to 19,822 individuals, representing 84% of the released funds.
Isaac Turinawe, a resident of Kyamakanda ward, shared his success story, stating, stressing that from the one million shillings PDM fund, he bought hens, from which he earns approximately 300,000 shillings weekly from egg sales.
Similarly, Korugyendo Sandra, also from Kyamakanda ward, expressed her gratitude, saying, from the 1 Million PDM fund, she started a poultry farm that now supplies chicken products across Rukungiri.
