The territorial police of Kanungu have in custody a 46yrs old man for allegedly strangling his 10 years old biological son to death
The suspect Agaba Onacklet was arrested by police after a tip off by the area chairperson Hellen Ayebare.
Elly Maate kigezi regional police spokesperson identified the deceased as Ivan Nuwagaba who was a Pupil at Karuhinda primary school and resident of Kazirankye village Northern ward Kanungu town council Kanungu district.
Maate says ,It’s alleged that on the 28/06/ 2023 at about 10:00am the suspect sent the deceased to buy for him cigarettes of 1000=Ugx and the deceased instead bought of only 500= and ate the balance which angered the father who threatened to kill him any time he lays his hands on him.
The deceased out of fear has been running away from the father until yesterday Sunday 02/07/2023 at about 1:00pm when suspect targeted the victim alone at Kanyangyende village Northern ward Kanungu town council, and stealthily grabbed him strangling him using a rope under pretence of suicide and hanged the body under the mango tree while legs were straight on ground comfortably and the rope completely loose.
Police says , crime scene was visited and documented, postmortem was done and suspect arrested and detained pending prosecution. Inquiries are underway.
