VP Alupo arrives in Burundi ahead of 23rd COMESA summit

NEWS– The vice president of the Republic of Uganda HE Jessica Rose Epel Alupo has today Tuesday 29th October 2024 morning arrived in Burundi ahead of the 23rd Common Market for Eastern and Southern African (COMESA) summit.

Jessica Alupo who is in Burundi representing the head of state President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa was welcomed in Bujumbura by government officials in the country.

According to Alupo, the market access is one of the crucial factors for the growth and stability of African economies saying that it contributes to the prosperity of the people.

The 23rd Common Market for Eastern and Southern African COMESA summit is due to take on 31st October 2024 in Bujumbura the capital of Burundi.

This year’s summit is themed “Accelerating Regional integration through the Development of Regional value chain in Climate Resilient Agriculture, Mining and Tourism”.

During the summit, the Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye is expected to take over the chairmanship of COMESA from the outgoing President of the summit who is the President of Zambia HE Hakainde Hichelema.
