Sacco leaders tipped on training members on financial discipline

RUKUNGIRI- Sacco delegates have been tipped about acquiring loans at a low interest rate instead of seeking financial assistance from institutions charging high rates that will jeopardize their income status.

The remarks were made by the former Rukungiri district chairperson Andrewson Katebire who was the guest of honor during the Rubabo boda boda Emyooga Sacco annual general meeting at Nyarushanje sub county headquarters.

Katebiire noted that many people are running to money lenders who easily offer them financial assistance but a burden to them in repayment.

Carolyne Atuheire, the acting Rukungiri district commercial officer said Rubabo constituency has 18 saccos that were supported by the government and that in Kigezi, Rubabo boda boda Emyooga Sacco was voted a model sacco for proper utilization of capitation from the government.

Atuhaire however called upon members not to rely on boda boda alone, but invest some resources in other income sources that will bring merit and more developments within their families and communities.

Caleb Begumanya the Rubabo County boda boda Emyooga Sacco chairperson expressed gratitude to the government for the seed capital of 70 million stressing that stand at a loan portfolio of 400 million shillings. Begumanya hailed the office of RDC and commercial officer for standing with them especially in loan recovery.

Nyarushanje sub county boss Micheal Musiime hailed the Sacco administration for giving timely accountability and trustworthy with money. Musiime urged them to be transparent to members so that everyone benefits in a bid to ensure development within their families.
