RUKUNGIRI- The Public has been encouraged to register their developmental groups and associations if they want to benefit more from the government and other related programs.
The words of encouragement were revealed by Pamella Ankunda from office Of the Rukungiri District Woman legislator Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata while monitoring Women and Youths groups in Bwambara sub county that were equipped with skills in making and designing table and wall mats.

The program that was established by the Rukungiri district Woman legislator Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata under “Kaharata Initiative for Youth and Women Empowerment” aims at equipping women and Youths in Rukungiri district with hands-on skills to enable them create jobs and generate wealth.
Speaking to group members of Kyabahanga bakyaara Tukwatanise Emyooga group, Kinyamatojo group, Rushaya B and Rushaya A bakyaara kwetungura groups, Ankunda encouraged them to register these groups and Associations at all levels so that they are known to exist to grab any form of benefit more from their leaders, donors and government at large.

Ankunda added that through registration, their groups will easily benefit from government programs especially Parish development model where Women will be having 40% share of the Ugx 100 per parish.
She however asked other women and Youths especially those that were impregnated during covid-19 lockdown and are unable to get back in school to embrace skills to sustain their lives and eradicate poverty.
Edvina Mukundane the chairperson of Kinyamatojo women’s group told our reporter that acquiring skills in making table and wall mats will help them in getting money to sustain their families since the activity can be done during their free time.
Kesande Penina the councilor representing Kyabahanga parish women in Bwambara Sub-county Council and Tumuhimbise Safurina a group member hailed Hon. Midius Kaharata for thinking about skilling them explaining that the chance will be used responsibly to eradicate poverty.
“Kaharata Initiative for Youth and Women Empowerment” aims at skilling people in making liquid soap, mushroom growing, table and wall mats, among other hands on skills.
