Twesigye Ronard, the Inspector of Schools for Buyanja Sub County, has called on parents to place greater emphasis on their children’s education.
He delivered this message during the Parents Annual General Meeting at Nyakaina Primary School, which focused on providing accountability for the construction of the school’s playground.
Mr. Twesigye expressed concern that some parents view education as unimportant, urging them to invest more effort into their children’s learning if they wish for a promising future. He emphasized the importance of not only educational support but also ensuring that children have access to nutritious food and healthcare. He reminded parents to seek medical attention when their children are ill and encouraged them to teach their children about faith, referencing a Biblical verse that states, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
Miss Atuhaire Patience Agaaba, the school treasurer, expressed her satisfaction with the progress of the playground construction project, which involves collaboration with parents and the District Engineer. She highlighted the importance of transparency by informing parents about the financial details of the project, including expenditures and remaining balances.
She thanked the parents for their ongoing support and urged them to continue contributing to the project until the playground meets their expectations.
Mr. Kabareebe Charles, the chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), thanked the parents for their strong turnout at the meeting. He announced plans for a school thanksgiving event on Sunday, August 17, aimed at raising funds for the completion of the playground. He encouraged community members to attend in large numbers to support the initiative for the benefit of the children.
The meeting served as a vital platform for parents, teachers, and school officials to engage in meaningful discussions about the importance of education and community involvement in nurturing the next generation.
