At the Annual General Meeting held yesterday at Nyabiteete Secondary School, Chairperson LCIII for Buyanja sub-county, Emmy Rubondo, urged parents to prioritize education within their families as a pathway to a better future.

Rubondo emphasized the importance of investing in education, stating, “Education is key to development in life.” He criticized parents for spending money on leisure activities instead of school fees, encouraging them to view educational expenses as profitable investments.

He also called on the government to address the ongoing issues regarding teacher compensation, noting that the current strike is negatively impacting children’s welfare.

The headteacher of Nyabiteete Secondary School, Sabiitti Epaphras, echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of timely fee payments for effective school planning. He highlighted the need for parental cooperation in supporting school development projects, such as constructing more buildings and facilitating private teachers.

The Chairperson of the Parents and Teachers Association, Salary Binomugisha, who is also the NRM flag bearer for Buyanja sub-county, noted that the primary purpose of the meeting was to elect a new school executive committee and to promote accountability among parents and staff.

Binomugisha urged parents to nurture their children with good morals and to provide essential scholastic materials to ensure their success.

Hon. Alex Bob Rugonde, a candidate for the NRM flag bearer for Member of Parliament for Rubabo County, reiterated the need for parental support of local schools, emphasizing their role in community development. He encouraged parents to be positive role models by involving their children in cultural morals and ensuring a safe, violence-free home environment to foster peaceful and developed communities.
