Ntungamo Local councils commended for effectiveness in service delivery

NTUNGAMO- The RDC Ntungamo Byarugaba Isaiah Kanyamahane has commended the LCIII chairpersons for being proactive and promoting cohesiveness through forming a forum which has enabled them to have a strong voice.

According to RDC Kanyamahane, the forum will help them to compel the government to extend services to their voters in the community.

He made remarks on Thursday while addressing the Ntungamo district LCIII chairpersons Forum convened in Central Division Council Hall Ntungamo municipality. Kanyamahane pledged his total commitment to work and support them for the development of the district.

However, he challenged them to avoid bickering and political self-interests among themselves rather than support one another for the betterment of their areas.

He hailed the host chairman Mugisha Robert Kanyate the chairman Central Division and Senior Assistant Town Clerk Ainomugisha Coleta for the infrastructural development in the Division.

The Ntungamo district LCV chairman Samuel Mucunguzi Rwakigoba criticizes the way the district service commission gives jobs based on commissioners’ interests rather than the will of the people of Ntungamo District.

Chairman Mucunguzi stressed that due to the fact that the district service commission failed to perform accordingly, he nominated Twebuuze Alex the LCIII chairman of Rubaare Sub County to replace Hildah Rwamashongye Turyahikayo as chairman.

He also condemned some technical staff under the veterinary section that have been extorting money from cattle farmers and traders as Foot and Mouth quarantine bites for over a year, ensuring people that quarantine will be lifted in two weeks.

The chairperson of the Ntungamo district LCIII chairpersons Forum Nganwa Kenneth Rubatuhuura asked the district to expedite the release of government funds to the local councils to extend service delivery in their areas of jurisdiction.

The Mayor Ntungamo Municipality Jacob Kafureeka thanked the technical staff and chairman of the Central division for implementing the government programs ahead of others divisions.

The host chairperson Central Division Mugisha Robert Kanyate and Senior Assistant Town Clerk Ainomugisha Coleta commended the local authority leaders for being visionary to start such forums as the only way to advocate for checks and balance in their mandate.
