In a bid to improve service delivery, North Kigezi Sacco organized a training workshop today at Riverside Hotel. The event brought together board members and management from the Sacco, which was established to address the financial needs of the North Kigezi Diocese’s clergy and Christian community. Currently, the Sacco boasts a membership of 2,178 individuals.

The workshop focused on strategies to enhance the services offered by North Kigezi Sacco. Turyamureeba Paul Kahigi, the Chairperson of Kyamuhunga People’s Sacco, facilitated the session. He emphasized the importance of peer learning, noting that individuals often learn better from their peers than from traditional teaching methods stating that this is why North Kigezi Sacco invited him to share experiences and insights on key roles for the board and management to ensure growth and development. He highlighted the shared challenges faced by cooperatives, such as loan defaults, which require collaborative solutions

Kahigi further explained that having multiple businesses offering similar services does not indicate competition but rather reflects a strong public demand adding that setting up a business similar to that of a neighbor is not a fight; it signals a demand for services from the public.

He also reiterated that cooperation among similar organizations is essential for community development. He urged participants to view their shared challenges as opportunities for collaboration rather than competition.

Ven Dickens Baguma, Chairperson of North Kigezi Diocese Sacco, expressed gratitude for the workshop, stating that the knowledge gained would be instrumental in managing the Sacco more effectively saying that this training will enable us to improve in various departments, including management, loans, and savings. Baguma also highlighted the support of Right Rev Onesimus Asiimwe, who has been pivotal in addressing the challenges faced by the Sacco.

As the workshop concluded, participants left with renewed motivation and actionable strategies to enhance service delivery, ultimately aiming to foster development within the community and contribute to the overall socioeconomic transformation of the region.
