The Alliance for National Transformation presidential candidate General Mugisha Muntu, has identified disrespect for human rights and failure to learn from historical mistakes as the root causes of Uganda’s leadership challenges.

Speaking to thousands of residents across various towns in Mitooma, including Katenga, Kabira, Ijumo, Kashenshero, Bitereko, and Rutookye, Muntu emphasized the need for a peaceful country where citizens do not live in fear of their rights.

In his address, Muntu urged current leaders to reflect on history to avoid repeating past mistakes that have led to ongoing political strife.

Highlighting a significant instance of human rights violations, Muntu mentioned the illegal detention of Dr. Col. Kiiza Besigye, who remains without trial. He called on the public to recognize such injustices as a critical reason for the need to change the country’s leadership. It should be remembered that Besigye is already being tried in the Courts of law on treason charges.

Also addressing the crowd, Patrick Ayebaziibwe, the Mitooma district flag bearer for LC5 chairperson, called on President Museveni to acknowledge the inevitable transition occurring in Ugandan politics.

Musa Atwihireyo, the ANT coordinator for Mitooma district, echoed the sentiments of the need for trustworthy leadership focused on hard work and effective service delivery. He expressed his commitment to supporting Gen. Muntu as the right choice for Uganda’s future.
