The Rukungiri Municipality area Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa has urged people to elect leaders that understand their problems rather than those with individual interests.

Hon. Rutahigwa made the call yesterday Sunday during the fundraising to get resources for the expansion of Ruruku Catholic Church in Western division Rukungiri Municipality.

Speaking to Christians at the fundraising event, Hon. Rutahigwa revealed that while many candidates are seeking votes, locals should be wary of those who are there purely for their own personal gain rather than the good of the community.

He continued by saying that people of Rukungiri Municipality should choose leaders who can address their issues and improve service delivery. Rutahigwa outlined his accomplishments to date during his term in office and pledged to do more if reelected as the area Member of Parliament.

In addition to what he previously contributed towards the construction of the catechist’s house at Ruruku Catholic Church, Hon. Rutahigwa donated 50 bags of cement and bought items worth over one million shillings during the function.
