Man killed by neighbor in Rukungiri

RWENSHAMA- The territorial police in Rukungiri have arrested two suspects allegedly for the murder of a 23 years old Sunday Innocent Akim, a resident of Ncwera cell, Rweshama parish Bwambara sub county Rukungiri district.

The two suspects are; Mujuni Moses and, Mugabirwe Goodrah. It’s alleged that on 31st May 2025 at around 4Pm, Mugabirwe  Goodrah, who is the closest neighbor to Tusiime Harriet (wife to deceased ) went while drunk and started abusing Tusiime Harriet, telling her that she will not give birth to her pregnancy.

At that moment, Mujuni Moses (the suspect’s husband) was in his bed listening to what was taking place outside. He woke up and jointly continued abusing Tusiime Harriet.

This prompted Tusiime Harriet to call her husband one Sunday Innocent Akim and informed him of what was taking place.

According Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, that, at around 3pm on the same day, Sunday innocent Akim went home and found the three still quarreling and tried to intervene in the defense of his wife Harriet.

Maate adds that, as he was entering his room of residence, Mujuni Moses pulled him outside and started fighting him.

In the process, Mujuni Moses called his wife to bring for him a knife and kill Sunday Innocent Akim, which the wife did. Mujuni used the knife to stab Akim (now the deceased) around the neck.

The deceased fell down and died instantly before being taken to the hospital.

A case of murder was reported at Rwenshama police station; the crime scene was examined and documented, statements were recorded from witnesses and the two suspects were hence arrested. Postmortem was done and body handed over to relatives for burial as inquiries are in progress.
