Community Collaboration Emphasized by Lions Club Leaders in Uganda

 In a recent gathering at Sena hotel conference hall  in Rukungiri Municipality, Allen Tushemerirwe Naturinda, the District Governor of the Lions Club, called on the public to actively engage in forming more association clubs to bolster community development. During her address, Naturinda underscored the vital role that Lions Clubs play in serving communities, particularly in addressing development concerns, environmental protection, and combating health issues like eye diseases and diabetes. 

Naturinda noted that the efforts of the Lions Club are voluntary and act as a complement to government initiatives. She expressed her belief that the establishment of additional clubs would not only increase membership but also enhance the variety of services offered to communities.Adding that Old members must provide support to newcomers hence advocating for a spirit of inclusivity that will strengthen the organization and expand its outreach.

The governor also highlighted the profound impact such clubs have on societal cohesion and development, citing that when individuals come together with a shared vision, amazing things can happen. Naturinda’s inspiring message urged community members to get involved and contribute to collective progress, emphasizing that community development thrives on cooperation.

George Tumwesigye, President of the Lions Club in Rukungiri, echoed Naturinda’s sentiments, expressing gratitude towards members for their commitment to the club’s growth. Tumwesigye stressed the importance of dedication and love among members, which he believes is essential for bolstering the Lions Club’s initiatives. He outlined the diverse roles of the Lions Club, including providing charitable services to local schools, hospitals, and environmental conservation projects, stressing that they are eager to form more clubs to ensure continuous service delivery in  communities.

Member Muhwezi Edison added to the discussion by praising Naturinda for visiting their district and commending the collaboration among leaders and club members. He reinforced the club’s commitment to supporting government efforts in service delivery, particularly in healthcare and education, noting that as Lions, they have made significant contributions in fighting diseases and supporting local environment, affirming their readiness to continue shining a light on community development.
