Centenary Bank’s Rukungiri Branch has donated a motorcycle (registration number UEQ 399C) to the Rukungiri District Local Government, marking a significant step in boosting local development initiatives. The handover ceremony occurred at the Rukungiri District headquarters, with attendance from district leaders, heads of departments, and various technical staff.
During the event, Brian Kasaija, the Branch Manager of Centenary Bank Rukungiri, highlighted that the motorcycle will be assigned to the Department of Trade, Industry, and Local Economic Development (TILED). He explained that this donation supports the implementation of Financial Inclusion Pillar Three under the Parish Development Model (PDM). Kasaija emphasized that this initiative is part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility and represents a token of appreciation for the ongoing partnership between Centenary Bank and Rukungiri District in executing the PDM.

Frederick Byekwaso, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Rukungiri District, expressed gratitude towards Centenary Bank for its unwavering support. He reiterated the importance of proper maintenance and responsible use of the motorcycle to ensure it serves its intended purpose effectively. “This motorcycle will greatly assist our teams in delivering services to the community,” Byekwaso noted.

LC5 Chairperson Geoffrey Kyomukama also acknowledged Centenary Bank’s contributions to the district. He reminded attendees that this is not the first time the bank has supported local development; last year, they donated a set of computers to enhance district services. Kyomukama urged all departments to utilize the motorcycle to facilitate better communication and service delivery within the district.
Additionally, Assistant Resident District Commissioners Dickens Muhoozi and Keren Kagisha praised the strong relationship between Centenary Bank and Rukungiri District. They encouraged the relevant department to use the motorcycle responsibly, stating that efficient use of the vehicle can significantly impact local service delivery hence urging for more support.
