The community came together today to mourn the passing of Rukundo Benson, father of Hon. Ampurire Aliban Rukundo who contested on PFF flag bearers elections, during a burial service held in Rugyendwa, Kyamakanda, Buyanja Subcounty. Rtd. Rev. Gashom Muhanga, the former Diocesean Secretary of North Kigezi Diocese, delivered a heartfelt message urging mourners to prepare for the inevitability of death, emphasizing that it cannot be predicted.
In his sermon based on Luke 7, Rev. Muhanga encouraged attendees to repent their sins and to forgive others while they are still alive, highlighting these actions as pleasing to God. He expressed gratitude for the legacy left by the late Rukundo, particularly for the values of education and guidance instilled in his children.

The wife of the late, Christine Rukundo has described her husband as he was loving family man who held deep affection for his community and faith. She revealed that he had been suffering from ulcers, which had worsened in the days leading up to his passing. After an examination on Wednesday morning, doctors announced his death, prompting her to express gratitude to those who assisted in planning the burial ceremony.

Hon. Ampurire Aliban Rukundo thanked the community for their overwhelming support during this difficult time. He honored his father’s dedication to education, noting that Rukundo Benson had ensured all his children were well-educated and equipped for success. He also acknowledged the significant role their stepmother had played in caring for their father after the death of their mother in 2021.
Aliban highlighted that Rukundo Benson, born on April 12, 1969, passed away at the age of 57. He urged his siblings to stay strong, reminding them that God gives and takes away. He assured attendees that their family would remain open to visitors, welcoming those who wished to honor his father’s memory.
