The Rukungiri District National resistance Movement returning officer Kiiza Jackson Mugarura on Friday nominated Kansiime Boaz Matiita, to contest for the party flag in the Rukungiri Municipality Mayoral seat race.
Matiita was nominated at around 11Am, after which he trans-versed numerous parts of the Municipality.
Matiita who was grateful upon his nomination highlighted his commitment to addressing key issues in the municipality, such as improving cleanliness, particularly in the Rukungiri central market, which has been plagued by garbage and sewage problems.
He also plans to enhance security by installing street lights and tackle unemployment among youths and women.
Furthermore, Matiita aims to improve infrastructure, sports infrastructure, address water access challenges among other strategies meant to make Rukungiri Municipality better.
So far, from 116 candidates who picked nomination forms from the Rukungiri District NRM offices, 108 candidates have been successfully nominated.
These include 34 contestants for municipal councilors, 2 for the mayoral seat and 72 for district councillorship.
