Primary school headteachers in Rukungiri Municipality have raised alarm over what they describe as poor performance and limited participation of pupils in sports activities, citing challenges ranging from stadium access to delayed player registration and weak facilitation at school level.

The concern was raised today during the end of term two meeting for primary headteachers from schools within the municipality. The meeting was held at the Rukungiri Municipal Council headquarters, where stakeholders discussed how to improve co-curricular activities ahead of upcoming competitions.

Speaking as Chairperson of the Rukungiri Municipal Sports Committee, Byaruhanga Henry, headteacher of Nyakibale Lower Primary School, urged the district stakeholders and the main stadium committee to always keep the main stadium available for school programmes. He noted that sports remain difficult to conduct when schools face obstacles during registration and preparations, including delays in player registration which he said directly affects the timing and quality of sports facilitation.
