Residents of Rukungiri Municipality have been urged to prioritize savings and avoid extravagant spending to improve their financial well-being. This message was delivered by Adamz Bwisho, the chief speaker at a workshop organized by the Buyanja People’s Sacco at All Saints Church.
Bwisho emphasized the importance of saving a percentage of any income received, stating that this practice will secure their financial future. He encouraged attendees to explore income-generating activities such as agriculture, animal husbandry, trade, and the promotion of personal talents to help lift themselves out of poverty.
He also advised against frequent borrowing from multiple financial institutions, explaining that this can lead to stress and negatively impact lives. Instead, he suggested that individuals establish a relationship with a single financial institution and use loans responsibly to ensure timely repayment.
“Saving is the first step toward financial security. Every little bit counts.”
Nayebare Oliva, the General Manager of Buyanja People’s Sacco, shared insights on the purpose of the workshop. Over three days, the team visited various zones, including Rwerere, Buyanja, Omwirwaniro, Rubanga, Bugangari, and Rukungiri Municipality, to inform members about new products and responsible loan usage.
Nayebare expressed gratitude for the strong turnout and assured members that the Sacco administration is committed to their financial education and growth.
“We are here to empower you with knowledge and tools to make the most of your finances.”
Canon Tuhirirwe Yosia, Chairperson of the Board of Governors for Buyanja People’s Sacco, highlighted the need for ongoing education for members. He reiterated that the workshops are crucial for informing members about new offerings and responsible borrowing.
Yosia encouraged attendees to take loans that they can afford and to use these funds wisely for their development.
“Education is key to unlocking the benefits of our Sacco’s programs. Let’s work together towards our development.”
The workshop was well-received, with members expressing appreciation for the valuable insights and guidance provided.
