The Minister for Security, who also represents the Rujumbura constituency in Uganda’s 11th Parliament, has urged Ugandans to prioritize peace and unity during the political season.

Speaking at a fundraising event for a four-classroom block at Kasoroza Primary School in Nyakagyeme Sub-County, Minister Muhwezi represented by the Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner Steven Bewayo Nsubuga emphasized the importance of consolidating friendships rather than dividing communities through intimidation and violence.

The Minister highlighted Uganda’s democratic nature, reminding citizens of their right to choose their leaders. He cautioned against abusing fellow citizens over political disagreements, as these individuals may be needed in the future.

During the event, Hon. Jim, contributed two million shillings towards the construction project and expressed satisfaction with church-founded schools that are taking initiative in fundraising to construct classroom blocks, recognizing that the government cannot shoulder all responsibilities alone.

The event began with a service led by Rev. Ronald Natuhwera, the Archdeacon of St. Paul’s Kasoroza Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry. Rev. Natuhwera condemned Christians who abandon church projects while demanding support, urging a commitment to community development.

Musinguzi Emmanuel Kirakurate, the headmaster of Kasoroza Primary School, appealed to the government for additional classrooms to alleviate congestion and enhance student performance. Currently, the school has an enrollment of 409 students but only nine classrooms, leading to overcrowded conditions.

A total of 20 million shillings was raised in cash and pledges during the fundraising event, demonstrating the community’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure.
