RUKUNGIRI- Security Minister also the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi has encouraged youth to embrace vocational training to attain the knowledge and skills required in the current dynamic job market.
Muhwezi said unemployment has been and still is the biggest challenge amongst youth because a number of them do not have hands-on skills to generate business ideas.
Hon. Jim Muhwezi made the plea while visiting Dr. Garry Coombs Theological Library, Grace Land Academy, and Skills Unlimited Vocational Institute, among other projects of God’s Embassy Ministries in Western Division Rukungiri municipality.
Speaking with our reporter after his visit at Skills Unlimited Vocational Institute, Hon. Jim highlighted the significance of skilling the youth as a crucial driver of Uganda’s socio-economic development and national security.
Hon. Jim Muhwezi said youth must come out to utilize Skills Unlimited Vocational Institute Rukungiri instituted by Bishop Onesimus Ngoboka to aid them attain both formal education and employable skills required.
“With such skills, the youth are able to break the dependency syndrome by starting up their own business ventures, obtaining their own incomes and also employing their family and community members,” Muhwezi said.
However, he commended Bishop Onesimus Ngoboka’s idea to establish a vocational training center and promised government cooperation for the benefit of young people in Rukungiri district and the nation as a whole.

According to God’s Embassy Ministries Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe, they are focusing on teaching young people skills such as those recommended by the NRM government since this will enable them to illuminate the darkness.
Bishop stated that in order to help young people flourish and have better growth; they are teaching them various skills in constructing, tailoring, welding, and woodworking, among other things.
