In a significant gathering held at the Christ the King Main Hall, the Rujumbura Restaurant Owners Emyooga Sacco convened its fourth Annual General Meeting, emphasizing the importance of financial responsibility among its members. The event featured key insights from various speakers, including Rukungiri District’s Commercial Officer, Mrs. Caroline Atuhaire, who underscored the necessity of timely loan repayments to foster growth and profitability within the cooperative.
Mrs. Atuhaire expressed her gratitude to the members for their dedication and hard work in strengthening their groups and the Sacco as a whole. She noted, “To develop our groups and increase profits, it is crucial that we pay our loans on time and utilize the funds wisely.” Her remarks were aimed at encouraging members to be more proactive in managing their finances, stressing that responsible borrowing and repayment can lead to enhanced economic stability for both individuals and the collective.
In her address, Mrs. Atuhaire also called upon group chairpersons and the Sacco board to play a more active role in educating members about effective financial management. “It is not just about acquiring loans; it is about understanding how to use that money to improve our lives and the Sacco at large,” she added. The meeting also featured the Chairperson of the Sacco, Mr. Musyogo Richard, who expressed his appreciation for the turnout and collaboration of members. He highlighted the importance of community involvement in the Sacco’s growth, stating, “Our Sacco was established in 2020, and in these nearly four years, we have made significant strides towards improving our living standards.” Mr. Richard acknowledged the support from the Ugandan government, which has been instrumental in providing resources that help members thrive.
Mr. Richard encouraged all members to continue putting in efforts towards the development of the Sacco, reiterating that collective success is achievable through commitment and diligence. “Each member’s contribution is vital for our shared success,” he remarked, urging everyone to remain focused on their goals.
Additionally, member Mrs. Rugyendo Victoria shared her perspective on the benefits of government programs. She expressed gratitude for the support received, which has enabled members to enhance their quality of life. “I encourage all, especially women, to engage in these government initiatives. They provide vital capital that can help start income-generating opportunities,” she stated, highlighting the importance of inclusivity in economic development.
