RUKUNGIRI-The Rukungiri District Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Elias Byamungu has directed leaders of Southern division in Rukungiri Municipality to hand over the keys of Rukungiri main stadium to the municipal town clerk over mismanagement and personalizing of the facility.
This comes after the public outcry that the division leadership on daily basis stops them from using and accessing the stadium where by most of times demand money.
While speaking with our reporter, Byamungu narrated that the division leaders even ashamed the entire district after disappearing with keys of main stadium’s gates when the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja visited Rukungiri as she was heading for BAAF function at Immaculate Heart Girls School Nyakibale.
Another incident was on Sunday 12th December 2021 when they blocked football fans from stadium access as the Rukungiri United FC hosted Kigezi Homeboy’s FC which according to Byamungu is null and void.
Byamungu trashed the division leadership for acting independently from the district stressing that this will let down the area development. The CAO pointed out that he is going to deal with any leaders who don’t respect directives from district leaders.
The CAO now wants both political and Administrative leaders to work hand in hand to boost young people’s talents so that they can benefit from them rather than denying them access to such recreation centers.
