United States issues new guidelines for travelers from uganda

HEALTH-Ugandans will have to under go Ebola screening before they are allowed access in the United States ! The US government has said.

According to the United States government new guidelines have been set for travelers from Uganda.

In a statement seen by our reporter the Biden administration says, travelers from Uganda will be redirected to airports where they can be screened for the virus.

These airports include; Kennedy Airport, in New York; Newark Liberty International Airport, in New Jersey; O’Hare International Airport, in Chicago; Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport; and Dulles International Airport, in Washington, D.C.

However the statement indicated that American health officials are watching the Uganda outbreak closely because there are no approved drugs or treatments for the type of Ebola virus causing the outbreak.

Screenings were expected to begin on Thursday 6/10/2022 for some passengers, but the travel restrictions will not go into effect until next week.

Currently, there are 44 confirmed cases and 10 deaths in Uganda . At least six infections and four deaths occurred among healthcare workers.
