NEWS– The aide to the National Unity Platform President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu known as Denis Ssenono aka Den City has finally been released hours after his abduction.
David Lewis Rubongoya the NUP Secretary General says that Den City was on Tuesday 8th October 2024 evening released from Kireka ‘after spending several hours under incommunicado detention.
According to Rubongoya, Den City says that he was driven off to CMI Mbuya where he spent the night following his abduction. He found there many other people, some of whom have been detained for months or years.
He further revealed that according to Den City most of the detained are young people aged between 17 and 25 years.
“This morning, he was interrogated about why he uses social media to criticize Gen. Museveni and his regime. He was severely beaten during interrogation, especially with wires under his feet. They asked him what our leader Bobi Wine pays him and others to do the work they do”, added Rubongoya.
The NUP Secretary General revealed that like it happens to all their comrades they take in, Den City said they told him to work for them ( government ) and become their informant as well as making a written and video undertaking that he will stop ‘insulting’ regime officials or face worse consequences.
Rubongoya noted that Den City also said they showed him a picture of late Ritah Nabukenya (“who was deliberately knocked dead by a police truck”) and asked him if he thinks he can’t follow her fate!
He said that later in the day, he was driven off to Kireka and released without any document stressing that they only asked him to bring someone to sign for his bond although no bond form was issued.
“They told him not to speak to the media about his ordeal, or they’ll pick him up again. Very grateful to some of our leaders who rushed to Kireka and picked him up! Despite all this, his spirit is not shaken!”, Rubongoya added.
