NEWS– Leaders in Mbarara district leaders have officially launched the construction of the district headquarters.
The Ugx 15 billion project was launched on Monday 7th March 2025 in at Bwizibwera Saaza grounds in Bwizibwera-Rutooma Town Council.
The two-year project’s contract has been awarded to the National Housing and Construction Company to construct a four-story building.
While speaking at the launch held at Bwizibwera Saaza Grounds, Lt. Col. James Mwesigye, the Western Region RDC Commissioner who represented Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, urged leaders to fully support the project for its success.
Lt. Col. Mwesigye issued a strong warning against any attempts to misappropriate funds meant for the development.
Mbarara district was left with no headquarters after Mbarara City was curved out of the mother district and this made the previous offices at Kamukuzi hill to be occupied by the leaders of the young city.
