Seven suspected notorious boda boda robbers arrested

NEWS– The police in Katwe have in detention seven notorious boda boda thieves.

According to Patrick Onyango the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, the seven were arrested in an intelligence-Led Operation in a significant crackdown on crime.

This intelligence-led operation was conducted by police in Katwe  aiming at tackling the growing menace of boda boda robberies and murders.

The operation targeted areas in Nansana and Wakiso and resulted in the arrest of seven suspects.

Onyango identified the suspects Kikabi Sufyan a resident of Ganda, Edward  Kalyango a resident of Mende, Simon Kisekka from Nansana and Hassa Serwadda a resident of Nabweru.

Other detained suspects are Yasin Ntale a resident of Nansana,  Isma a resident of Wansanso and Shamimu a resident of Ndejje.

The police spokesperson revealed that all suspects confessed to stealing motorcycles and that the operation led to the recovery of three motorcycles, materials used to alter chassis and engine numbers and motorcycle spare parts.

He advised boda boda riders to be cautious especially at night, avoid carrying more than two passengers after midnight, refrain from taking passengers to unfamiliar areas if they are to ensure their safety.
