Security Minister Jim Muhwezi wins Rujumbura County Parliamentary NRM flag

The Minister for Security Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi has emerged victorious as the flag bearer of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) for the position of Rujumbura Parliamentary seat.

Announcing the results at Rukungiri district Council Hall today afternoon, Rukungiri district NRM electoral Commission chairperson Right Mwongyera, said that Hon. Jim Muhwezi Katugugu garnered 21,613 votes which are 54.2% of the total votes cast.

Arinitwe Frank Rukanirwa came second with 17,083 constituting 42.9%, Kibuka Ambrose 709 votes, Musime Obadia 65 votes, and Muhurizi Julius garnered 155 votes constituting 0.4%.

Addressing the press shortly after being declared winner, Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi said that he is truly humbled by the confidence the people of Rujumbura showed him, saying that this victory is not for him alone but rather belongs to all NRM supporters who believe in strong and inclusive leadership.

Muhwezi congratulated all candidates for participating in the election process urging them now to come and work together since they belong to one family of National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Nsubuga Bewayo Stephen expressed gratitude to the public and candidates for their patience while they awaited the results, but the main goal was to ensure that the process is transparent.
