RUKUNGIRI– 4 million and seven hundred thousand was raised yesterday during the fundraising ceremony held at Ruruku mosque in western division, Rukungiri Municipality.
The event was intended to raise funds to expand their mosque and it drawn attendants including politicians, Business women and men, Muslim leaders and believers among other community members from different religions.
The Rukungiri Municipality mayor hopeful Boaz Kansiime Matiita hailed Ruruku Muslims leaders for the initiative and was grateful for the District Kadhi’s message that emphasized love and unity.
Matiita noted that cooperation between religious institutions and politicians is much prudent for the country’s development.

The Rukungiri Municipality hopeful Member of Parliament Ankunda Andrew Kikira who was the day’s Chief Guest expressed his gratitude to Muslims of Ruruku for the great idea of expanding Allah’s place of worship to accommodate a growing number of believers.
Citing elections that are coming nearer, Ankunda Andrew Kikira called on Muslim believers and Rukungiri Municipality residents to choose leaders that will work for the development of their area. He contributed 100 bags of cement and 2 trips of bricks.

The Rukungiri Muslim District kadhi Sheik AbdulMarik Kayole hailed Andrew kikira Ankunda for being hardworking man and always being there for them whenever he’s called.
Kayole promised that the raised funds and material will be put to proper use for the intended purpose.

The imam of Ruruku mosque Sheik Muzamil Musinguzi thanked Allah for giving them a conducive weather that enabled massive attendance that raised millions of money.
He added that after expanding the mosque, they will set eyes on rehabilitating their school for the betterment of the community around.
