The TILED Department in Rukungiri District on Tuesday August 12th 2025 organized an impactful one-day training session targeting all Sacco and bank managers, supervisory committees, and Chairpersons across the district.
The initiative aimed to bolster the sustainability of Saccos, promote inclusive economic growth, and address the challenges hindering their development.
The training emphasized the importance of strategic solutions to enhance Sacco performance, including strengthening membership bases, maintaining good liquidity, encouraging healthy savings, and upholding exemplary governance standards.
District Commercial Officer Grace Tayebwa commended Buyanja Sacco and Nyakibale Sacco as exemplary models of strong and resilient Saccos within the district. She highlighted their success as a testament to effective management and community engagement.
Ms. Tayebwa urged underperforming Saccos to intensify their efforts, particularly in expanding membership and improving financial health.
She emphasized that collective efforts and adherence to good governance are vital for the growth and sustainability of Saccos, which are critical drivers of financial empowerment and inclusive development in Rukungiri District.
This training marks a great step towards empowering Sacco leaders and members to overcome challenges and unlock the full potential of cooperative savings and credit initiatives in the district.
