Rukungiri District Leaders Pledge Cooperation for Development.

In a recent display of democracy, newly elected local leaders in Rukungiri District have committed to prioritizing cooperation and development during their terms of office. The leaders, representing various political parties and community interests, emphasized the importance of unity in tackling developmental challenges facing their constituencies.

At the forefront is Hellen Kabajungu, the elected chairperson LCIII for Ruhinda Sub County from the National Resistance Movement (NRM). In her inaugural address, Kabajungu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Ruhinda for their trust and support. She emphasized her commitment to enhancing service delivery and addressing the developmental needs of her constituents. “I am dedicated to promoting progress and ensuring that the voices of our community are heard and acted upon,” she stated.

Meanwhile, Gumisiriza Joel, who has taken the helm as chairperson LCIII for the Southern Division of Rukungiri Municipality, also representing the NRM, underscored the need for collaborative efforts in pursuit of communal progress. “It’s crucial that we set aside our differences and work together for the betterment of Southern Division. I see this opportunity not only as an honor but as a responsibility to facilitate development and growth,” Joel remarked, urging his former opponents to join in this collective mission.

Agaba  Emmy Rubondo, elected chairperson LCIII for Buyanja Sub County under the People’s Front for Freedom, echoed similar sentiments. He expressed his appreciation to the residents for entrusting him with leadership and affirmed his readiness to cooperate with all stakeholders to bring about meaningful change in the community. “Together, we can foster growth and address the pressing issues facing our people,” Rubondo stated.

In the council, Begumanya Caleb Kabayo, an Independent councilor for Rubanga North Parish, vowed to be a voice for his constituents, promising to take their concerns to the Sub County council. Orishaba Macklin, the new woman councilor for Kyaburere Parish in Bugangari Sub County (NRM), highlighted her focus on women’s empowerment and issues. She pledged to work closely with all leaders and residents to address challenges affecting women and to spur development in her parish.
