In a recent general meeting held at Kashenyi Senior Secondary School in Ruhinda Sub County, Rukungiri District, parents were urged to regularly visit their children at school to oversee their learning processes. This meeting also coincided with the unveiling of a construction project for three storage girls’ dormitories and the receipt of 203 bags of cement donated by the Association of Old Boys and Girls of Kashenyi SSS.
Rev. Ivan Mwongyera, the headteacher of Kashenyi Senior Secondary School, reported that the school currently accommodates 1,117 learners. He expressed his gratitude to the alumni association for their significant contributions toward the construction of the dormitories, which will benefit the school community.
Rev. Mwongyera encouraged well-wishers to support the school’s development efforts, emphasizing the importance of providing a conducive environment for female students. He also cautioned parents against sending their children to school with mobile phones, noting that the curriculum prohibits their use on campus.
The Board of Governors, led by Rev. Canon Godfrey Mutabazi, acknowledged the hard work of both parents and teachers in fostering the academic performance of students. He commended parents for their wise decision to enroll their children at Kashenyi Secondary School, highlighting the institution’s strong performance in both arts and sciences.
Rev. Mutabazi urged parents to invest in the construction of the girls’ dormitory, stressing that success requires hard work and dedication.
Madam Ahebwa Clara, a representative of the Kashenyi SSS Old Boys and Girls on the Board of Governors, expressed gratitude to all registered members of the alumni association for their contributions. She encouraged parents to continue prioritizing their children’s education, asserting that education is crucial for future success.
Ahebwa highlighted that the association currently has 176 members and urged all former students to join, emphasizing the positive impact of collective support for the school. She also encouraged current learners to focus on their studies and consider joining the association after graduation.
The meeting underscored the importance of community involvement in education and the collective responsibility of parents, teachers, and alumni in shaping the future of students at Kashenyi Senior Secondary School.
