The Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Nsubuga Bewayo Stephen, officially handed over his office to Deputy RDC Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom today, following his transfer to Pakwach district.
The ceremony took place at the Rukungiri district headquarters and was attended by key district officials, including Rukungiri District Security Officer (DISO) Christopher Wachaya, Deputy DISO, and two Assistant RDCs.
After the formal handover, which included the transfer of the office key, stamp, and essential case files, attendees proceeded to Riverside Hotel for farewell celebrations.
In his farewell address, Nsubuga Bewayo expressed gratitude to his security staff for their support during his four-year tenure in Rukungiri. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive working relationship among staff to ensure ongoing progress within the district.
He urged local residents to cooperate with the new acting RDC, Ongom, to facilitate effective service delivery.

Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom, now the acting RDC, expressed his commitment to continuing the legacy of Nsubuga. He stated, “I am already familiar with Nsubuga’s legacy and intend to continue from where he stopped.”
The Minister of Security and Member of Parliament for Rujumbura County, Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi, congratulated Bewayo during the farewell party. He dismissed rumors suggesting he was behind the recent reshuffle of RDCs, clarifying that such decisions are made by the President.
Muhwezi thanked the outgoing RDC for his visionary leadership and contributions to Rukungiri, wishing him well in his future endeavors. “May God reward him abundantly for what he did for Rukungiri.”
This transition marks a significant moment for Rukungiri district as it looks forward to continued development under new leadership.
