Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, the Minister for Security and Rujumbura County Member of Parliament has called upon Ugandans to reject corruption and make decisions based on principles and national interest rather than short-term financial incentives, which are likely to distort democratic outcomes.

Hon. Jim Muhwezi who is also the chairperson NRM for Rukungiri district made the remarks yesterday Thursday while concluding his campaign tour in Buhunga Sub County, Rukungiri district ahead of NRM elections.

Addressing residents at Kabingo, Kihanga and Kibirizi parishes both in Buhunga Sub County, Minister Jim Muhwezi advised residents to shun candidates who engage in nighttime vote-buying if they want good leaders who will address their issues.

Minister Jim Muhwezi went on and urged Ugandans to elect leaders from National Resistance Movement (NRM) saying they understand and have solutions for their problems.

He however, urged people to vote for him since he works closely with the government and can easily lobby for them, thus improving service delivery in the area.

Early this Month, the Electoral Commission of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) announced a new polling date for its parliamentary flag bearer elections, shifting the exercise from Wednesday, July 16 to Thursday, July 17, 2025.
