Low government funding stagnates services at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital

NEWS– Officials at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital are worried of the low government funding to the facility.

According to the facility Administrator Francis Oriokot, the facility receives A only Ugx 2Bn annual medicine funding from the government despite their Ugx 37Bn budget.

“The hospital’s annual medicine budget is UGX 37 billion, but it only receives UGX 2 billion in government funding”, he said.

He called up on the government to increase funding to meet the healthcare needs of all the people in the area.

Oriokot revealed that Mbarara regional referral hospital serves about 3.6 million people across 10 districts in the Ankole region.
