Security Minister also NRM flag bearer for Rujumbura Constituency Hon. Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, has rallied people in Rukungiri district to continue supporting NRM because it cannot betray Ugandans.
Minister Jim Muhwezi made the call on Tuesday while campaigning in Masya Parish, Nyakagyeme Sub County in Rukungiri district ahead of 2026 general elections.
Addressing the congregation at Rwamagabo Church of Uganda, Nyabugando, Omukidandari and Katogo trading centers, Muhwezi clarified that National Resistance Movement (NRM) will never let Ugandans down because its ideology is on social economic transformation without any discrimination.
He urged Rujumbura constituents to support President Museveni, him and other NRM flag bearers because they are capable of lobbying for services and development from the central government to their communities.
Jim Muhwezi encouraged the people to convince opposition members to join NRM, warning them not to get sidetracked by individuals who, he claimed, lacked the will and ability to serve them.
Jim Muhwezi’s campaign team was boosted by Mr. Birimuye Fred Mpwerize, who was his rival in the contest for Rujumbura County NRM flag and agreed to support him.
Fred Mpwerize urged the people of Nyakagyeme and the entire Constituency to support Hon. Jim Muhwezi to accomplish the pledges that he promised them.
Namara Elizabeth a resident of Kanyabihara cell in Masya Parish who was the coordinator for Jim Muhwezi’s former rival Hon. Arinitwe Frank Rukanirwa said that they decided to support their party flag after NRM Primary elections for the continuity of development.
During the campaign rally, the coordinator for Jim Muhwezi in Masya Parish Mr. Kiiru outlined some of the accomplishments of their legislator promising high performance in the forthcoming general elections.
