The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) candidate for the Rukungiri Municipality Parliamentary seat, Hon. Ingrid Kamateneti Turinawe, has pledged to elevate Rukungiri from a municipality to a city.

Speaking to her supporters at her residence in Butagasi Cell, Western Division, after securing the PFF flag for the upcoming 2026 general elections, Ingrid emphasized her commitment to driving development in the region.

She expressed gratitude to PFF officials who led her successful vetting process at the party headquarters in Katonga, Kampala highlighting her past contributions to the party and her ongoing commitment to the struggle for progress.

Among her key promises, Ingrid aims to transform Rukungiri Municipality into a city, Address educational needs by bringing a university to the area, lobby for a District Referral Hospital to tackle the healthcare challenges faced by residents and combat Unemployment particularly among the youths.

She also voiced her concern over the ongoing Arts teachers’ strike, noting that this is the third term many learners are spending weeks at home vowing to advocate for salary increases for teachers if elected, positioning herself as a voice for education in her constituency.

Ingrid urged PFF members to unite for meaningful change in Rukungiri Municipality and called for collective efforts to secure the release of Dr. Kizza Besigye.

In a show of support, Kwarija James, Chairperson of the Local Council One for Butagasi Cell, congratulated Hon. Ingrid on receiving the party flag and encouraged the people of Rukungiri to mobilize and support the PFF to regain dominance in the district.

Kwarija emphasized the importance of rallying behind Ingrid to ensure she can fulfill her manifesto promises in Parliament.
