Aspiring National Youth Member of Parliament, Hon Kanyesigye Mercy, has made a strong commitment to address the pressing issue of youth unemployment in Uganda. During a meeting with youth delegates at Rukungiri Inn in Rukungiri Municipality, she outlined her vision for empowering the youth and ensuring their voices are heard in Parliament.
Hon Mercy emphasized that unemployment remains the most significant challenge facing the youth today. She assured the attendees that, once elected, she will advocate tirelessly for their interests and serve as their representative in Parliament.
Among her promises, Hon Mercy pledged to secure funding for the National Resistance Movement Youth League and the National Youth Council, aiming to enhance the support available for youth initiatives. She also expressed her desire to facilitate training programs in Kyankwanzi, focusing on leadership, cadre ship, and patriotism to prepare youth for future roles in governance.
Additionally, Hon Mercy proposed providing motorcycles to youth delegates at the subcounty level, enabling them to effectively monitor National Resistance Movement projects across various regions.
The meeting was attended by notable youth delegates, including Tugumenabo Brian Mbaine, the Youth Chairperson for Rukungiri Municipality, and Akandiinda Bruce, the NRM Publicity Secretary for Youth in Rukungiri District. They expressed their gratitude for Hon Mercy’s visit and officially endorsed her as their flag bearer.
In their discussions, the youth delegates urged Hon Mercy to advocate for motorcycles from President Museveni to aid in mobilizing support for the National Resistance Movement. They expressed their commitment to rallying support for her candidacy, citing her promising ideas as a catalyst for their enthusiasm.
As the youth of Rukungiri rally behind Hon Kanyesigye Mercy, they look forward to her leadership and the positive changes she aims to bring to their community.
