The territorial police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 21yrs old Kwikiriza Ian a casual labourer a resident of Kembeho cell Kashuri parish Kambuga sub county Kanungu district, who was allegedly found lifeless on the 11/06/2025 at Rwenyerere cell.
It’s alleged that on the 11/06/2025 at around 1130hrs, one Mbonimpa Vicencio received a phone call from Turinawe Kenneth informing him that goats were still home and that the person supposed to set them off for grazing wasn’t doing so, according to Kigezi Region Police spokesman ASP Elly Maate.
Maate adds that Turinawe Kenneth went with his mother to check where Kwikiriza Ian was staying and found him still sleeping, something that was unusual.
That, they tried to knock the door which was locked from inside but no one was responding.
Maate told the press that that, this forced them to break into and they found him lying on the mattress facing down.
They informed his boss one Mbonimpa Vicencio what they had found and he reported the incident to the police.
The crime scene was visited, a small bottle of pesticide named striker was found near the bed and vomits on the bed, which rose suspicion that could have committed suicide.
Relevant statements were recorded, postmortem was done at Kihihi health centre IV and the body was handed over to the relatives for a decent burial.
Maate added that Police inquiries are already at hand.
